The Persona Design System (PDS) is a core part of how we design, build, and evolve identity experiences at Persona.

Design systems are important for creating a consistent look and feel for products. They also accelerate development by giving design and engineering teams a shared language and resources.

The PDS consists of:

  • Foundational tokens that define design values, such as color, spacing, and typography.
  • Assets, like logos and icons.
  • Reusable components, such as buttons, sliders, and dropdown menus.

The Persona Design System is the foundation of our design hub. It’s where we’ll share the PDS elements, along with insight into how we practice design at Persona.

Persona’s mission is to humanize online identity. Our identity platform supports people with disabilities and assistive technologies through WCAG-compliant software. And we think design plays an important role because it shapes how we communicate expectations, guide users, and build consistent and transparent experiences.

Organizations partner with Persona for many reasons, including verifying users’ identities or ages, fighting fraud, meeting compliance requirements, and strengthening workforce security. Often, they ask users to upload a selfie and share deeply personal information.

Behind every verification, review, and decision is a real person seeking access and a real team responsible for making accurate and fair judgments.

For users, design determines whether a verification request feels clear and trustworthy. For reviewers, operators, and fraud analysts, design determines whether they can efficiently and confidently interpret information, investigate risk, and make decisions.

The PDS also helps us scale in a world where MCPs, Cursor, Codex, and Code Connect are part of regular conversation.

As more teams turn to AI-powered tools, the PDS ensures that:

  • Designers can prototype full-fledged interactive solutions without onboarding onto complex engineering setups.
  • Developers can use accessible and production-ready components without additional design support.
  • Solutions teams can assemble end-to-end experiences and configurable layouts without additional engineering support.
  • Product managers can create and scale new features that look and feel like Persona.

And our users get the best outcome of all: a cohesive, trustworthy experience across every interaction with Persona.

Releasing the PDS is an exciting start for us, and we’ll continue to level up our identity platform by:

  • Expanding design resources made available through the site
  • Focusing on globalization efforts for the international expansion of the dashboard
  • Strengthening accessibility features to meet the new WCAG 3.0 compliance requirements
  • Scaling prototype kits to further help customers communicate UX requirements and needs to our product teams

We’re looking forward to advancing the PDS in close partnership with our product teams and customers to deliver thoughtful, accessible, and inclusive experiences for all.
